Purposes of this pre-built VM
OS/2 1.0 was marketed as a successor to DOS. It was a 16-bit multi-tasking protected-mode operating system with pre-emptive scheduling, multi-threading, dynamic linking, and virtual memory. At this first version there was no GUI (Presentation Manager). This VM, with some OS/2 programs and utilities of that time installed, has the purposes of learning and experimentation. The only programm shipped with OS/2 1.0 was EDLIN, editor only usable in the DOS box, outdated and difficult to use. So some menu driven editors was included, as some utilities like file manager. The idea is to show the evolution this operational system was at that time.
